The finished coating can only perform as well as the surface below it. A structured preparation process helps identify contamination, moisture, weak concrete and defects before they become expensive failures.

01

Begin with a complete substrate assessment

Record the substrate type, age, visible condition and previous treatments. Look for cracks, laitance, oil, curing compounds, old coatings and areas exposed to water or chemicals.

  • Confirm that the substrate is structurally sound
  • Identify active cracks and movement joints
  • Mark contaminated or damaged zones
  • Document the initial condition with photographs
02

Remove anything that can reduce adhesion

Cleaning alone may not create the profile required by a resin flooring system. Mechanical preparation should expose a clean, open and consistently textured surface without polishing it.

  • Remove dust, oil and chemical residues
  • Use the preparation method specified for the system
  • Vacuum the surface thoroughly
  • Protect prepared areas from new contamination
03

Test before applying the primer

Moisture, surface temperature and ambient conditions must be checked using appropriate instruments. Cracks and defects should be repaired with compatible materials and allowed to cure.

  • Verify moisture using an accepted test method
  • Check substrate and ambient temperature
  • Compare conditions with the current product TDS
  • Do not continue when the surface is damp or contaminated
